The safety braking system sometimes locks on to growth on the side of country roads, especially right-hand bends, which can lead to surprising, sudden braking. All the other systems work well although putting postcodes into the satnav is a method that is not logical and had to be explained to me by the salesman. "|
|26/09/2018 01:17:29 Peter Gallant " The Seat Ateca is an alternative to the Skoda Yeti and was chosen prior to the Skoda Karoq launch as a Skoda Yeti replacement. It is made in the Czech republic at the same factory where the Yeti was produced and the Kodiaq and Karoq are produced. However it varies from the Skoda versions in that it fells a little bit sportier but less comfortable in the ride quality seeming to bounce more over the potholes and bumps. My version is the 2017 Xcellence which has the 2.0 TDI engine (150 bhp) with the 4x4 drive. Good points: Good seats, including rear seats being figure-hugging and comfortable. Sporty feel to the power unit and good low down torque although you need to be in second gear or above to get the turbo push. Good size boot despite the 4x4 drive but no spare wheel. Lots of space for passengers in rear. Excellent sensors front and rear band good rear view camera Good wing mirrors which fold on extended lock depression. Wing mirror pool lights spell out Ateca name and shape and entry and exit at night. Good central screen and MFD units in front of driver. Bad points: View through rear window restricted- alleviated by good wing mirrors. Lack of good storage space: Glove box space is impacted by the SD storage units. Lack of storage under both front seats despite not having the electric adjustable seating. Mode selector doesn't keep previous mode if not in Eco or Normal setting. This was really annoying in the snowy/icy conditions (mode set to Snow) as when engine stopped to pick up passenger selector reset to ECO mode without me realising causing a small slide in the snow. Mud and dirt collects inside lower rear door lip - this seems to be a design fault (have yet to check this out on a Karoq). Navigation (from SD card) not always available )message "loading naigation data" can be on for hours even if journey is interrupted (i.e. shutting down and restarting doesn't always fix it). Likewise the Andoid Car link doesn't always connect first time. Isofix covers in rear seat area come loose very quickly (these are small plastic inserts to cover the Isofix fix points in the rear seats). Missing some handy features that the Yeti had (these are things I missed on the change to Seat): No parking ticket clip on windscreen. No moveable baggage clips in boot space ( in fact, the clips are quite small in the Ateca compared to the Yeti (and Karoq) and you only get two. No removable torch in boot space. Rear seats only 60/40 split not three separate seats as in the Karoq and Yeti. Overall opinion: a good SUV car with some quirks that need getting used to. Would I buy again: will swop back to the Skoda version when the lease is up. "|
