The BMW Group, which includes Mini and Rolls-Royce, has recorded its highest single month sales figures in Germany. In March 2011, this prestigious collection of brands sold 165,842 vehicles. This is a 17% increase over the same period last year. This beats the previous best of 152,721 which was set in December 2007. In fact, the group performed well for the entire first quarter. Overall sales increased by 21.3% compared to early 2010.Rolls-Royce played a significant part in this record breaking success. In March 2011, 261 highly prestigious new vehicles were received by their wealthy owners. This represents a 108.8% increase over March 2010. Secondly, first quarter sales rose to 723 units - compared to 279 last year - which is a staggering 159.1% improvement. At this rate everyone in Germany sill soon own a Rolls. Or perhaps a Mini is more to one's liking? This historic marque recorded 30,689 sales in March 2011, up 28.5% over the same period last year. Total first quarter figures increased too, by 22.9%, to 60,860 units. This was partly due to the introduction of the new Mini Countryman which is very popular in dear old Germany. The BMW 5 Series, X1, and X3 also significantly contributed to the group's success. What a shame the UK lacks a comparative industry.
