F1 Valencia GP Qualifying Results

Qualifying in Valencia started with all the front runners going out first on the medium compound tyres.

Qualifying in Valencia started with all the front runners going out first on the medium compound tyres. Felipe Massa went fastest with a time of 1:38.413 although that time was set on the soft compound tyres, which no other ‘fast’ driver used. Sebastian vettel came second in qualifying running the medium compound tyres. Drivers to go out in qualifying 1 were Narain Karthikeyan, Jerome D’Ambrosio, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Timo Glock, Jarno Trulli, Heikki Kovalainen and Jaime Alguersuari.

Qualifying 2 started with all the top drivers going first, with Sebastian Vettel putting in a benchmark time of 1:37.305. Pastor Maldonado retired from the session with suspected engine failure which caused the session to be red flagged until the Marshall's could recover his car. Adrian Sutil managed to make it in to the top ten shoot out after he knocked Vitaly Petrov. Drivers to go out of qualifying 2 were Sebastian Buemi, Sergio Perez, Pastor Maldonado, Kamui Kobayashi, Rubens Barrichello, Paul Di Resta and Vitaly Petrov.

Qualifying 3 started with the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso going out first and setting a time of 1:37.454. Sebastian vettel then took provisional pole with a time of 1:36.975, beating both McLarens who set times faster than Fernando Alonso. All the drivers went out again to try and beat Sebastian Vettel’s time, although nobody could go faster. Sebastian Vettel starts on pole from Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld and Adrian Sutil.
