Ford: What Is In Store For 2015?

Ford To Expand Line-Up In UK

Ford of Britain is expecting one of “its busiest years ever” for new car launches as it strives to broaden its appeal to a wider range of drivers and increase market share.

Ford Mustang (Muscle Car)

New models include the Mustang Fastback and Convertible. The Mustang hits its 50th birthday this year and the new version - for the first time - will be available with factory-fit right hand drive for the UK. It is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 or 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine.

Vignale Mondeo (Executive Car)

Vignale is Ford's new, exclusive, sub-brand. The badge is reserved for the highest specification version of – initially – the Mondeo. Other models will follow. The Vignale Mondeo has a chrome grille and door handles and its front bumper houses LED fog lights.

The interior incorporates quilted leather seats and door trim, plus a leather steering wheel, console and door tops. It also has a storage draw in the boot and built in wi-fi.

It will be available from FordStores of which 60 to 70 are planned. These will be plusher than the manufacturer's traditional premises. After sales care for the first owner will include collection prior to servicing, use of a Vignale courtesy car, waxing and cleaning.

Ford Mondeo, Galaxy, S-MAX, C-Max And Grand C-MAX (Family Cars)

The Ford Mondeo range will be expanded in 2015. Forthcoming models include the Hybrid Electric, the 4-wheel-drive, the 2.0-litre 210PS Diesel and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost.

These will complement the Galaxy - a seven seated multi-purpose vehicle - and the S-MAX, a workhorse of comparable practicality but sportier looks and sharper handling. Smaller prospects launching this year include new versions of the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX.

Ford Edge (Sports Utility Vehicle)

The Edge is a sports utility vehicle with 5 doors, 5 seats and 4-wheel-drive. Ford claims it has “more room for passengers than large competitor SUVs that cost considerably more”.

Ford Focus ST (Performance Car)

The Ford Focus ST will launch early in the year as a 5-door hatchback and estate. It is powered by a 2.0-litre EcoBoost 250PS petrol or 2.0-litre 185PS diesel engine. The fastest version – the petrol hatchback – hits 62mph in 6.5 seconds and is capable of 154mph.
