Jaguar XF Wins Fleet News Best Executive Car Title
Jaguar XF Saloon handling, cabin and equipment commended as the smaller XE receives “highly recommended” accolade.
Jaguar praised by journalists and fleet managers
The Jaguar XF Saloon claimed the Best Executive Car title at the Fleet News Awards 2016. The judging panel included respected motoring journalists and fleet managers who concluded this executive lifestyle statement is “great to drive”. Let us consider why.
Jaguar explained its “impeccable ride, handling and dynamics” is partly due to the lightweight aluminium architecture which “facilitates a near perfect 50:50 balance”. The result is an agile and precise drive”, the manufacturer said. This construction also makes it lighter than the old XF and amongst the lightest in class.
The judges praised the “outstanding interior quality” too. Jaguar argued it has: “A range of contemporary materials (that) are exquisitely crafted to offer exceptional comfort and a sense of wellbeing.”
Furthermore: “The centrepiece of the interior is the integrated design feature that XF shares with the other cars in the Jaguar range. This feature sweeps from over the instrument panel, across the top of the facia and along driver and passenger doors”, Jaguar argued.
The XF was also praised for being “well equipped”. Highlights – not all of which are standard or available on every model – include the: head-up display, 10.2-inch touchscreen interface, integrated wi-fi, voice command recognition, powerfold exterior mirrors, 4-zone climate control, heated screen and a hard drive to store music.
Low running costs
The judges further said that this saloon's “low running costs make it the perfect executive car”. 2.0-litre 163PS diesel 6-speed manual versions, for example, average 70.6mpg and emit carbon at a rate of 104g/km. This power plant can also be teamed with 8-speed auto transmission; in which form the car is virtually as efficient.
The Jaguar XF Saloon is “spacious” too, the judges said. The manufacture said that: “Rear knee room has increased by 15mm and rear headroom has risen by up to 27mm” (compared to a previous XF).
Jaguar saloons claim further accolades
Fleet News judges also praised the XE which is the XF's smaller sibling, so it earned a “highly recommended” accolade in the Best Premium Car category. The XE/XF have recently won other titles too.
