New Car Launches For 2013
Christmas is old news … what matters now is the new cars for 2013.
Christmas is old news … what matters now is the new cars for 2013. So, throw away that stale mince pie and check-out the Alfa Romeo 4C. This compact sports car – or so the rumours suggest – will have a 1.7-litre turbocharged petrol engine to propel a mighty 296bhp to the rear wheels. That should make it faster than Santa falling down a chimney. It will also have stunning looks, lightweight construction, and a fashionable badge to make it more popular than a Christmas cracker filled with gold. All for £40,000. The BMW i3 should also makes its presence felt in 2013. Why? Because it will be a fully electric vehicle for the city. Rumours suggest it will have a range of up to one-hundred miles making it comparable to a Nissan LEAF. It is likely to be expensive, though - so motorists might have to sell a few unloved Christmas presents to pay for it. See you on E-Bay, then. The Dacia Sandero will emerge into the big bad world too. This supermini will cost from £5,995 so it will be one of the cheapest new cars on the market. It will also have numerous strengths, including its standard five door layout and the spacious 320-litre boot. The Sandero will have a big brother too. As such, the Dacia Duster will also offer motorists fantastic value. Why? Because this off-road style vehicle will cost from only £8,995. Not bad considering it will nearly match the Ford Mondeo Estate for cargo capacity. It will also be available with four-wheel-drive from only £10,995. I found to my horror that is the price of a Christmas turkey. Dacia, by the way, began life in the sixties and is now the budget wing of Renault. Whereas the brand is new to the UK, it therefore had enough pedigree to sell 343,000 units worldwide in 2011. I heard Santa bought two. We are also expecting a new Ferrari to replace the legendary Enzo. This might – or might not - be called the Ferrari F70. Details are sketchy, but it is likely to have 7.3-litre V12 engine teamed with two electric motors. Power will be in the region of 800bhp making it much faster than Rudolph. Oh, and the Jaguar F-TYPE will emerge too. In its most potent form, this convertible will have a 5.0-litre 595bhp V8 engine. That will be enough for 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 186mph. More affordable will be the Kia pro_cee'd which will be better looking than Santa's most stunning elf. Standard features will include voice activated Bluetooth and a system to prevent it rolling backward during hill-starts. Santa should find the latter particularly helpful whilst negotiating steep roofs. But like a huge Christmas stocking, 2013 will keep on giving. As such, we can look forward to the Maserati Quattroporte. This striking four-door saloon is virtually guaranteed to create an impression. The forthcoming Rolls-Royce Ghost Coupe, the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, and the Volkswagen Golf Mk VII should also be fantastic. Bye bye Christmas – hello 2013.
