New Fiat 500 Pranks VW
Tut tut... the Fiat 500 is naughtier than a cheeky toddler on a sugar rush.
Tut tut... the Fiat 500 is naughtier than a cheeky toddler on a sugar rush. Why? Because when it heard Google Street View was in town it raced from its headquarters to Volkswagen's Södertälje base in Sweden. It then parked by the main entrance, under a large Volkswagen sign, and waited for Google's camera car to capture the moment. This bright red 500, therefore, created one of the most memorable car pictures of recent years. VW must now tolerate the image for a year or so - the average time it takes Google to update its Street View imagery. Perhaps next time this city car will also bring a few friends. The Fiat 500 is one of the most distinctive cars on the market – just ask Volkswagen. As such the styling is tremendous, its cabin feels special, and handling is superb. Power comes from various cheeky engines, with outputs ranging from 69 to 135bhp. The race to 62mph - and away from furious VW workers – therefore takes between 12.9 and 7.9 seconds. Average fuel economy is between 72.4 and 43.5mpg, which is reasonably pleasing. Volkswagen, in particular, must be thrilled. New Fiat 500 prices range from £9,960 to £14,467. Now behave little Fiat – and stay away from the sugar bowl. Tut tut tut.
