New Range Rover Evoque Convertible

SUV Convertible on sale 2016

Land Rover have confirmed the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible at the Geneva Motor Show. The first prototype was demonstrated on a short film which shows the SUV convertible being driven underground across twenty six miles of Crossrail tunnels. Engineers were given the opportunity to drive the disguised Evoque Convertible with its roof lowered in complete privacy.

The Evoque is a huge success story for Land Rover and the car certainly lends itself to the idea of a convertible. The soft top concept is based on the Range Rover Evoque coupe and features a fully retractible roof system with a Roll Over Protection System, it also boasts a versatile drop down tailgate. It retains all the Evoque key characteristics including a command driving position and all terrain capability. The development test explored the vehicles all terrain ability fully as the tunnels it was driven through are still under construction.

The new convertible will be packed with the Evoque’s award winning technology including Terrain response, surround camera and park assist. The 21” Titan Silver wheels are a unique feature and the interior of the concept is in Lunar with Ivory leather seats and sporty perforated panels and Ivory contrast stitching.

Evoque is an international success

The decision to bring the Evoque Convertible to the market is welcome news as the Evoque is an international success. It has received over ninety international awards, sales have exceeded 62,000, global sales are around 125,000. The 2016 Evoque will be the most efficient Land Rover ever produced due to the new advanced diesel engine. The new EU6-compliant four-cylinder Ingenium unit brings class-leading performance, refinement and efficiency. Fuel economy is efficient returning up to 68mpg and CO2 emissions are as low as 109g/km.

Land Rover will announce further details about its Convertible later this year.
