New SKODA VisionD Concept

Are you ready for this? The SKODA VisionD Concept has been revealed to the big bad world. But does the big bad world want it? I hope so, as – according to the motoring manufacturer – it “offers a clear indication of the future design direction for all future SKODA cars. Oh really? Nobody I know likes it much. Phrases such as “too angular” and “over simplistic” have been thrown around – and someone said it looks like a “cheap Ford Focus”. Maybe that is harsh – beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all – but perhaps the VisionD Concept needs to evolve if SKODA wants it to appeal to a wide demographic.

In contrast, SKODA's current range is extremely popular. The company recorded over 41,000 UK registrations in 2010, a 10.5% increase compared to the previous year. That represents 2% market share which is a significant milestone for the marque. SKODA also received twenty-five major awards in 2010, then a further sixteen in 2011. Most impressively, the manufacturer has been in the top ten of the J.D. Power Survey of Customer Satisfaction for the past eighteen years. Hopefully the forthcoming models will help SKODA continue this tradition - and hopefully the VisionD will mature like a fine wine.
