Porsche 918 Spyder Supercar
Highly Efficient and Ultra-Fast: Concept Car with Plug-In Hybrid
This new Porsche 918 Spyder concept is set to form the basis of all future Porsche supercars. Using hybrid power this car can lap race tracks quicker than a Carrera GT supercar yet delivers 94mpg consumption. Top speed for the Porsche 918 Spyder is 198 mph. It is capable of 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
The body of the Porsche 918 Spyder concept is made from carbon fibre to save weight. It is powered by petrol-electric hybrid and the electric motors contribute 218 bhp with one each driving the front and rear wheels. There are different engine settings including an electric only one plus seven speed dual clutch gear box and ceramic brakes.
It is thought that this Porsche 918 Spyder concept could be released in 2012 and estimated cost approximately the £300,000 mark.
