Sergio Ramos Drops Cup Under a Bus

Spanish football team Real Madrid ended a three-year wait for a trophy, and then proceeded to drop it under their tour bus.

Spain’s most treasured football trophy, the Copa del Rey, slipped from the hands of Real Madrid player Sergio Ramos and fell under the front of the slow moving bus.

Defender Sergio Ramos held the trophy above his head in an open-top bus as the cup winning team were about to enter Madrid’s central Cibeles Square, which was packed with ecstatic fans waiting to see the team and trophy.

Ramos is then seen to lose grip of the cup as he was near the front of the open-top bus when it was moving, the bus then proceeded to run over the cup with the front right wheel. Real Madrid had only just got their hands on the cup for the first time since 1993 after a 1-0 win over Barcelona, courtesy of a Christiano Ronaldo goal.

“The cup fell, it fell,” Ramos said. “But the cup is OK.”

Police and other emergency service personnel rushed to retrieve the Cup and gave it to the bus driver but it was not displayed to the public again.
