Smart launch new model for 2009
Smart build on success with the new Smart CDI
Smart is one of the few brands enjoying showroom success at the moment with a 43.3 percent sales improvement on the 2007 figure.
Smart has a reputation for affordability and economy and the range is being considered by an increasing number of motorists who are seeking to reduce their motoring costs. The green credentials are hugely impressive, the #Smart CDI# returns a staggering 83.1 miles per gallon on the combined cycle and boasts the lowest CO2 emissions of any current production car at just 88g/km. Owners will pay exactly zero in road tax.
A pioneering market trial of 100 fully electric smart models is also underway in the UK. The smart ed emits no carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, particulate matter or any harmful substance. It has a top speed of 60mph (electronically limited), a range of 70 miles on a single charge, can achieve the equivalent of 300mpg, and is charged by simply plugging it directly into any UK mains 3 pin plug socket.
The new Smart CDI is due to go on sale in early March. The price has yet to be released, the range available at present start on the road at approximately £6912 this would give the impression that the new cdi will probably be a touch under the £8000 mark.
